Regular readers will no doubt have noticed the new look and feel to the blog. It has been a long overdue update and one that I hope will give more focus to what’s important, i.e. content by making posts more accessible, easier to locate and interactive for you to enjoy.
That’s all fine and dandy but what about doing something with that bland logo up the top there? Well, that’s where you come in because I want you to help design and choose the logo you want to see here on the blog.
I Need Professional Help
I don’t have an artistic bone in my body, so that’s why I’m going to turn to the professionals over at 99Designs.com to help out with the graphic design stuff. I’ll be submitting a design brief there for all those super creative chaps, who will bid against each other for the work and create designs for us to review here. Before all that though we need an idea, or rather a number of ideas to help them get their creative juices flowing.
The Vision
I case you had not noticed before, this blog is called SQL Server DBA in the UK and I want to communicate a UK theme through the logo. I’d also like to have some fun with the design by sprinkling a little comedy in there too. At this stage in the design process it’s about brainstorming and all ideas are good ideas folks!
To get things started I reached out to all you clever people on Twitter for some inspiration and asked:

There was a huge reaction of fantastic ideas, witty banter, a few arguments about cars and some not so good ideas. I’ve included the list of iconic UK “stuff” that you have come up with so far below.
What do you think? What comes to your mind when you think of the UK and what do you think would make a good logo design for the blog? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below or on Twitter.
“Oh and did I mention there will be a prize for one lucky commenter chosen at random.”
